Par rapport au monstrueux A Dawn to Fear, The Raging River est un album qui paraît presque raisonnable. Sauf qu’il est dans la continuité de Cult of Luna, c’est-à-dire pas raisonnable du tout. It doesn't quite stack up to their seminal 'Eve' LP but Ufomammut's 8th trip of trance-inducing, cosmic doom is still as crushing and relentless as it gets. Spliced with sci-fi oscillations, other worldly vocal miasma and thundering bass, guitar and drums, this Italian trio excel when the sound is as dense as a black hole. Such is the sheer force of nature of the music that they create, they went into self imposed exile for some years to recuperate and reset from the sonic maelstrom.
